About Kasey
Kasey is 18 years old and is a senior in high school. She was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF) at birth. Despite having CF and spending about two hours each day on medical treatments, Kasey enjoys life and works hard to achieve her dreams.
Kasey is an honors student and her favorite subjects are math and science. She is attending high school at a local community college through a dual enrollment program. Kasey is interested in pursuing a career in science; neuroscience and biology are her current interests. She also enjoys student council and being involved in leadership.
Kasey was in Brownies and Girl Scouts for several years and has many great memories of camp outs, hikes and summer camps. For sports, Kasey did horseback riding during the summers, played basketball for several years, is a blue belt in taekwondo, did field and track, and especially enjoys volleyball. Kasey played on her school team for four years and also played two years of club volleyball during the off-season. She also enjoys being active in church youth group and attends Young Life summer camps including a month long volunteer session in Malibu, Canada as a kitchen helper. Kasey loves to travel and explore and is looking forward to a 2.5 month study abroad program in Lyon, France in spring, 2019.
Kasey loves to help people and can often be found encouraging a friend who is having a hard time or cheering others on who feel like quitting. She was a pen pal with younger girls with CF and has organized her own Great Strides Team to fund raise for the CF Foundation. Kasey has discovered a new way to reach out to others through public speaking and appreciates having the opportunity to share her story with others. Kasey's message is: Don't let CF stop you from living a good life.
